Alamo GT Part 3, Day Two

Hey folks,

After Saturday Jack and I were tired and thought maybe a few less beers would help our rankings.

I was floating around the middle all weekend, Jack ended up in the overflow room that I termed "The Alamo Centre for Kids Who Can't Roll Dice So Good". It was actually a pretty sweet set up, laid back, well air conditioned, and quiet. I was jealous, the guys in here were hoping they didn't do so well to get bumped up to the main room for game 5.

Here's some more army shots.

These were the Eldar I faced in game 5.

 John Wayne's Necrons.

 LOVE THIS HELLDRAKE

He said it's not hard if you start with the green. Sure.

Holy crap I want this and all the rest of them. When I win the lotto, Heresy army.
I think this is the only picture I have of the great looking White Scars, that I played game 4.

Just marvel at the subtle blending on these tyranids. These picture don't do them justice.

GAME FOUR
I forgot to take any pictures of game four, it was against a cool guy named Yon, with White Scars. It was my only win. Due mostly to the mission type and getting some good psychic powers that helped me negate night fighting the first turn and start wiping out bike squads turn one. This was the only game that my army ran on all cylinders, everything came up Milhouse. I claimed the objective and secondary, getting max points.

GAME FIVE
I only got a few pictures of this game, I forget the guys name, but he had a mostly wraith Eldar army and beat Jack round one. It was a rough kill point game. I didn't take the initiative and go for the throat, I should have tried. It didn't work out very well for me. This is the only shot I got of the game. Once more unto the breach dear friends. We did close the wall with our Space Wolf dead. This was another loss.

I ended the weekend 1-2-2, tired and having had a hell of a lot of fun and a lot of beer. I can't recommend Alamo GT more highly.

Finally here's just a good portion of the terrain from the tournament.

Alamo GT Part 2. Day One.

Hey there again folks,

On to day one. I played Necrons, Necrons, and Grey Knights.

Lots of flyers, I'm glad I brought an Aegis.

ROUND ONE

Played Will from Austin for the first game, a great guy, and we got about a beer a turn, round one started at 10. A 5 objective game with table quarters being the secondary objective. We tied on the main  objective, and I pulled it out on the secondary and got Line Breaker, ending round 1 with 12 points.

This was also the bets $16 bucks I spent recently. A breakfast tray from Target. It's doesn't look like much but it's the perfect tournament tray. As you can see, fold down legs and a nice deep tray.

ROUND TWO

I went against John Wayne, a great kid with lots of years of gaming in him. I might be old, but he's a lot taller than the last time I saw him (taller than me). He had a nasty Necron list that was on me fast.

Here's my deployment in a defensive line ready to pounce on the objectives. John Wayne's dad, John Cook is at the next table.
He came after me fast.

These wraiths were great looking. I learned from my first game how ass kicking they were, these were target number one until the flyers came in.

Here comes the air cavalry! They flew on and soon dropped their troops right in my face.

We ended up drawing, with my Wolf Priest and one squad coming around the side to grab the objective  on the left. But he contested the objective with his destroyer lord. I got the secondary again, have more scoring units in no mans land than the other guy. So 12 points again.

ROUND THREE
The last game of the day was against Cowboy Kenny from the Heroic 28s. Grey Knights(boo hiss!), Draigo, a paladin squad, Coteaz, a strike squad, a jump squad, and two dreads.
Kenny was a great dude, and I didn't realize who he was until he was on a microphone on the second day giving an announcement. That podcasting voice.

This was my first lost, a kill point mission (I hate kill points) but I did kill Coteaz and Draigo. And ended up losing 6-4 kill points. Not too shabby I'd say.

Alamo GT Part 1, Pregaming

Hey there folks,

Sorry for the delay, Jack and I were at the Alamo GT in San Antonio last weekend, and then this week the wife and I got sick so I'm just now getting to posts.

First of all, happy memorial day to veterans and revelers alike.

Now, for the pregaming. The Alamo GT is held in San Antonio at essentially a Catholic VFW hall, this was mine and Jack's first time and it was a total blast.

Here's one of the best parts a bar inside the venue, staffed by a friendly old dude with $2.50 draft beers.

So the tournament went from Saturday to Sunday, three games the first day, two the second. Totally doable, Jack and I were wore out that first day. We may be getting old but it was a hell of a time.

Here are a few pictures of us setting up and me prowling around the hall before the day got started.

Here we have Jack getting set up.
Here's my Space Wolves, we went 1-2-2 for the weekend.

Badass Hoth table, neither of us got to play on it.

Angry Marines, the guy who played 'em got to drink for free for the weekend.

Loved these nids, I have more of them on later, the painting is incredible.

Here we have Jack's Guard and Imperial Fists.
