Grots Galore!

On Twitter, @hungryclone of the newly re-opened Team Shiv gave me a theme list, grots, grots, and more grots. I gave him a max scouts theme, HERE.

The battle force of Grotheart the Mad Oilerly. Being the helper to both a pain boy and a mek boy gave the newly named Grotheart the chance to learn more than any gretchin has business knowing. Using his grotty know wotz to implant control chips in a horde of boyz he staged a coodaytah, as he called it, and slew both the pain and mek boys. Now his rebel grots are on the march, with gatling cannons they assembled from scrap, some kanz, a few looted buggies and kopters. One steers, one does the peddles, works as well as you would imagine. They also cracked open a deff dread and have infested the now vacant control space. Grotheart has found as much use for snotlings as his former master did, rigging up his shock attack gun on squig drawn chariot, urging his brainwired thralls and followers on in battle with the cry of "THEY CAN TAKE YOUR LIVES, BUT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE MY SHINYS!

Tournaments & Paint

Alright, here is a combo army list- painted stuff post.

I think I am going to head to the Railhead Rumble in Dallas June 11-12.

It's a good thing I got a lot of stuff done, here is the overall shot of my finished infantry, squad by squad close ups are coming soon.

We've got wolf guard and special weapons up front, scouts and long fangs to the left and the rest are regular grey hunters.

Here is what I am thinking of taking for the 2000 point 7 game extravaganza at an anime convention.

Space Wolves, Part 1

Alright, gearing up for as much of tournament season as I can get to has got me painting. I've finished up the stuff Jack started and am getting ready to do more. I am getting closer and closer to my first fully ( at least for the time being) painted army.

Here are some thunder wolf cavalry that I did. Two powerfists with storm shields, a normal guy with storm shield, and a character with a wolf claw and storm shield. There are still two regular guys with magnetized storm shields, one more with permanent shield, and two characters, one with frost blade and the other with thunder hammer left to do.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!

This is awesome. A much more extensive conversion kit than most have been, I love it. I've got Menoth, and Jack has some Khador.
The corresponding warcaster, also badass.

GET ON YOUR BIKES AND RIDE!

Ok, so KIRBY has got me thinking about bikes while studying for finals (had my first today, and two more the next two days). I like space marine bikes, I used to have a bunch of them during 3rd ed with my codex marines, along with two full assault squads. I took those and as many marines as I could along with at least 1 librarian, I'm still a sucker for lots of boots on the ground and psychic powers.

(I want a skull gear stick)

I like fast attack, but this has become thunder wolves and speeders instead of bikes and jump troops with my current space wolf usage. Blood claws and bikers, they are good, they hit just as well and have many more attacks, but I just don't like them getting punched so easily on the return swing. So my love of 12in movement has been lessened, but sometimes I just wish I could justify sky and swift claws. Though with how Jack's assault squad performed time and again, I just don't know how effective that is.

Alright here is the point of all of this. If I had lots and lots of money that I had to spend on gaming stuff, here is the list I would be running.

1850
HQ
180 Captain, bike, artificer armor, relic blade
290 Command squad, bikes, 1) powerfist, storm shield 2) storm shield 3) lightning claw 4) storm shield 5) apothecary
135 Librarian, bike, null zone, force dome

Troops
285 8 Bikes, 2 meltaguns, attack bike milti melta
285 8 Bikes, 2 meltaguns, attack bike milti melta
285 8 Bikes, 2 meltaguns, attack bike milti melta
195 5 bikes, 2 plasma, powerfist
195 5 bikes, 2 plasma, powerfist

That's 44 bikes, 37 scoring troops that can comprise 8 scoring units. A combat unit with storm shields and feel no pain, that sounds like fun, and a librarian to disrupt and protect. Making my thunder wolves re-roll those 3++ saves would make me very sad I know that for sure.
